The Digital Health Companions for Chronic Diseases Summer School will show how to bridge the gap between large sets of available health data and digital assistants, in order to improve medical outcomes in chronic diseases. Participants will learn about and apply digital assistant technologies to enhance the quality of life for chronic disease patients, support patients during acute flare-ups, and even prevent flare-ups – thereby reducing overnight stays in hospitals and supporting the shift of healthcare delivery from hospitals to primary and home care settings.

Who should apply?

Master’s students, PhD candidates, and health professionals.

Programme

The Digital Health Companions for Chronic Diseases Summer School will take place from the 9th of September 2019 to the 20th of September 2019 in Munich, Germany.

During this two-week Summer School, the Technical University of Munich, Philips and Gothaer Health Insurance will jointly educate students in the intersection of digital assistant technologies, entrepreneurship, innovation, and chronic disease management. Participants will work together in teams, which will be coached by representatives from notable industry and hospital partners. Participants will also receive support from the founders of EIT Health start-ups and Munich’s local ecosystem to refine their business models and the corresponding prototypes.

Costs

The students will not be required to pay either a tuition fee or the accommodation, as these will be provided by the Summer School. Only the travel and everyday life expenses including breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as leisure-time expenses have to be covered by the participants themselves.

More information about this programme can be found at the Digital Health Companions for Chronic Diseases Summer School website. Applications should be submitted here.
