The Summer School Innovation Game will show you how to use game-design solutions to address real-life healthcare challenges. Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams, in close interaction with serious games experts and professionals in the business and public healthcare sectors. Their solutions will be shared through outreach activities, and the final phase of the training will focus on the progress from innovation to start-up during a visit to Paris, France.

Who should apply?

Bachelor’s degree and good English language skills are welcome to apply for the course.

Programme

The Summer School will run from 5 to 20 August at Campus Gotland, Sweden.

The participants will work in multidisciplinary teams, developing gamified solutions for challenges identified by a public healthcare organisation (Gotland Region in Sweden), a hospital (Assistance Hôpitaux Publique de Paris) and health companies. Using modern pedagogy and hands-on practice, the course will teach serious game design, group dynamics, and innovative thinking. The teams will develop relevant solutions that serve the target group’s need. Solutions will be pitched to a panel of experts – from academia, healthcare, and business – who will provide feedback to the participants. The solutions will also be documented and shared with potential stakeholders. Teams will meet with business coaches, receive an introduction to the support network of the innovation ecosystem, and learn how to make use of accelerator programmes. The course ends with a two-day learning expedition to Cap Digital, and the EdFab premises in Paris, France, where participants will pitch their solutions and meet French start-ups, entrepreneurs and researchers in the health sector.

The course includes accommodation/housing at Gotland.

Accommodation and a two-day trip to Paris are included at no cost.
